“My passion for the last 30 years has been
the insight that Chinese Philosophy and Medicine
brings".
I often ponder about decisions and how fragile is our
destiny. Obviously, some major decisions will undoubtedly
send us a long certain paths. Others, more mundane will
probably have less influence. But what about all the
thousands of in between decisions, and which of them will alter
our lives.
In 1980 I was studying applied biology at what is now Trent
University. We had to take a year out in industry as part
of our course. I remember standing with a pen in hand,
about to sign up for a job which involved living in a shed
videoing chickens and their behaviour. I remember thinking,
'should I sign up or not' in quite irresponsibly, I walked away
leaving myself without a job for the next year. Three months
later I was in Los Angeles at the California Acupuncture
College.
My aim was to be involved in a research project, just starting
the college, into Kirlian photography. What happened was
that I discovered Chinese medicine and Philosophy and it
changed my life. Suddenly, I began to understand myself and our
world a little better. My whole life changed.
I met many kind and wonderful people. Susan Wilson was my
inspiration: she introduced me to herbs and Chinese culture,
and made me laugh.
Then when I returned to England I studied with Giovanni
Maciocia, Peter Deadman, Julian Scott and Vivienne Brown and
attended many many seminars. I trained with herbs with Ted
Kaptchuk.
In the mid 80's I went to China and had an amazing time working
at a large hospital in Nanjing, meeting some wonderful
people.
Happily thirty years later this process of learning, creating
and discovering the wonder of Chinese Energetics &
philosophy continues.
As the last 30 years moved on it has been a journey of
combining Chinese medicine & philosophy with my involvement
within business. I set up a successful complementary Health
Centre in Nottingham, co-found the Northern College of
acupuncture in York and developed many online businesses. At
the same time I have been honoured to have built a successful
personal practice with what was at one point a rather
embarrassing 2 year waiting list to see me.
As an international trainer and speaker I have been lucky
enough to have contributed to the body of knowledge nationally
and internationally at colleges, within the NHS and for small
business owners and entrepreneurs. During this time I have also
contributed to the leading international publications.
To add a bit more to my portfolio in 2007 I
trained in Bali with Roger Hamilton to become a Wealth
Dynamics Master Practitioner. This has been an interesting
process of combining my past experience with Wealth
Dynamics. I love helping people understand their Wealth
Dynamic profile and making sure they are acting from the
healthy, productive side of this profile. It seems with this
combination of experience I am able to provide new and
deeper perspectives that enable people to find their flow
faster and with greater ease.
After much deliberation though, I decided in
2010 not to renew my licence as a Wealth Dynamics Master
Practitioner as this give me a little more freedom to
explore some of the finer points of Chinese philosophy,
Energetics and business. I am still however very supportive
of Wealth Dynamics and recognise its value within our
process towards being better entrepreneurs.
I am looking forward over the next decade to
contribute to this body of knowledge and understanding
too.
And now the really important bit; I have
fantastic marriage to Sue, three boys who are all just the
best ever. I could write for ever how important and
great they all are but you have done well to get this far.
…
My vision and purpose: If I can help people to
truly understand and sustain themselves, their health, wealth
and wellbeing then it will enable them to go further and
achieve more, burning more brightly and for longer.

"Illuminate the world, shine brightly, shine
longer and shine into even the darkest corners of despair and
hopelessness, making change
happen."
Incidentally the person who took
the job videoing the chickens in 1980 was never quite
the same again; but then again, neither was I.
